My counseling philosophy is to empower students and to provide students with the tools they need to make informed decisions. Professionally, I have served as a university academic advisor, orientation counselor, and radio professional! These experiences have helped create my counseling style. My academic background consists of a B.S. degree in Family and Child Studies, minor in Sociology, as well as M.S.Ed in Counseling with a concentration in Higher Education both from Northern Illinois University. My other interests consist of traveling and spending time with my family.
I actively pursue professional development opportunities. The Career Development Facilitator (CDF) program has given me the opportunity to further integrate academic counseling and career development. During the CDF program, I established genuine professional relationships with my CDF classmates and with my CDF instructor. I highly recommend the Career Development Facilitator (CDF) program. I also participated in the Advancements and Trends in Career Development program –excellent program, well organized, impressive content. I especially appreciated the career development resources. ~Tina Wagster-Plasmier
