I earned my Masters in Counseling for Higher Education from Lakeland College in December 2012 and I have been working in Higher Education since.
I am currently working part time as an Advisor for the Educational Opportunity Center at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and part time as a Learning Success Coach at Gateway Technical College. As an Advisor, I work primarily with the Non-traditional Adult Student population by helping them access either GED programs or finding the college that best fits their career aspirations, goals, lifestyles and needs. In this role I often assist them in determining the best career path to get them to their goal. When an individual has decided on the college of choice, I work with them throughout the application and admissions process as needed. Additionally, I provide retention based support and services for them once they are in a college level program. As a Learning Success Coach I work with students who have declared Human Services as their major. I work with students on an individual basis to establish goals and identify resources that they need to ensure their success in their classes and overall program. As a Learning Success Coach I not only partner with each student that I case manage, I also collaborate with a variety of college faculty and staff to make sure that I am connecting students to the best resources for their situation.
The Career Development Facilitator (CDF) program strengthened my knowledge base and expanded my experience with career development. Going through the Career Development Facilitator (CDF) process provided me with additional tools to better serve my students. It also took me to the next level in my career in Higher Education.
