Relationship-Builder, transitions coach, and career development facilitator. Passionate about championing individuals through their transitions in unemployment and careers. Empower them to utilize resources, pursue opportunities, cultivate meaningful connections, and make strategic choices to reach their goals that will allow them to lead a satisfying life.
Using a unique perspective of attentive listening and intuitive observations, my gift is affirming the individual’s story of transition by culling what really matters within the big picture. Having been laid off from employment three times myself, I understand the struggles with resiliency, tight finances, and the investment of time and the effort it takes to secure your dream employment
After three career transitions, my focus has been on championing individuals through their transitions and careers. From advising college students, creating my own internship within a career development department, mentoring diverse populations of at-risk and underserved youth, I have found my dream employment as senior employment counselor with HIRED’s Dislocated Worker Program.
Professional memberships include NCDA and the related state association, community engagement with book clubs and women’s fellowship groups, and enjoy attendance at career development-related workshops. Education and training began with an undergraduate degree in Health Information Administration, transitioned to a graduate degree in educational leadership, and now to a Career Development Facilitator!
The NCDA CDF Training Program clearly went above and beyond other training programs with its depth of content, well-formulated projects, available optional projects, and the incredible facilitator, Marie Smith. Marie Smith has been a genuine leader and mentor throughout the training program. She offered me the affirmation and confidence to spread my wings and soar!
